    Who is Heidi?

I am the main author of Fiberfoodfactory, one who creates recipes and photographs the food. I also write health articles and informative articles about food and nutrition.

I am a health coach, not a registered dietitian. I love to read about nutrition, take different courses, and read about nutrition studies.

I live in the North, Finland, with my husband and our lovely dog Nelli. We speak both Finnish and Swedish. You might find some recipes inspired by my culture.

    My food journey

I have always been interested in cooking and food. Even as a child, I sat for hours building cakes from sand and decorating them with flowers.

My mother inspired me to wander around in the forest and find edible things there. She taught me to pick berries, what mushrooms to pick and eat, the art of conserving jams, how to make your own tea and brews, how to cook syrups for cough, and how to find natural remedies from the forest. We have such lovely nature in Finland that inspires us to eat what nature gives us.

My whole life, I ate what Finns usually eat. This means meat at every meal, eggs, dairy products, and a lot of bread, potatoes, and pasta. However, some documentaries made me think about food choices and what is truly healthy for our bodies.

Nowadays we eat 90% vegan. We try to eat whole foods plant-based. But don´t want to stress too much about food either. The main focus is to eat lots of veggies and fruits throughout the day and a variety of plant-based foods.

Nowadays I am very inspired to study more about nutrition and taking nutrition courses. In fiberfoodfactory, I want to share what I learn with you.
